After the success of Easter chocolate eggs, the producer of alvarinho Dona Paterna once again innovates and combines flavor and tradition, this time to celebrate the Festa do Alvarinho e do Fumeiro, which starts tomorrow, April 22, and runs until Sunday, April 24, in Melgaço. Dona Paterna is present at the event and invites visitors to stop by her stand to taste the Dona Paterna wines and sparkling wines, as well as the alvarinho bonbons, produced especially for the Festival, an event that will be more special, since it was there for two years prevented from being celebrated in loco format, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
«We want to welcome visitors, anxious, like all of us, for the return to normality of the Festa do Alvarinho and Fumeiro, with a special treat that, in a way, promotes our territory and the products we have. The combination of chocolate and wine works perfectly and our brand, in partnership with a sweets producer from Melgaço, Elisangela Castro, has been betting on new flavor options so that these are one more reason for them to visit our land and even to publicize the territory.», says the producer of alvarinho, Carlos Alberto Codesso.
The gastronomic novelty comes from the hands of Elisangela Castro, from the Melgacense pastry shop Sabor do Céu. «I created chocolates with lemon cream flavored with Alvarinho Dona Paterna. The result is fantastic: a perfect balance between sweet and sour and with an alvarinho flavor.», maintains Elisangela Castro.
The product will also be on sale at the producer’s pastry shop, Sabor do Céu, in Melgaço (contacts: Rua Dr. Augusto César Esteves – Melgaço, tel +351 934 352 915) and will also be part of the menu of the Tasquinha da Portela restaurant (Portela, Paderne, 4960-263 Melgaço), one of the references of the municipality of Melgaço and which has also invested in gastronomic options linked to the territory and its traditions. “We want to create synergies with local producers. It is true that the Alvarinho wine is one of the greatest ex-libris of Melgaço, in the region, but people like it and must have other suggestions and here we have excellent products, not only gastronomic, but also tourism, sport, nature… we win, because if our territory wins, so do we.», highlights Carlos Codesso.

The Alvarinho Dona Paterna wine is a classic. A nectar full of delicacy, freshness and minerality, with delicate white fruit, citrus, saline tones and flowers.
Ideal as an aperitif or to accompany seafood, fish dishes or poultry dishes. It should be drunk between 10-11ºC.
