Three gold medals at the VINARIUM International Wine Contest 2025

They have just arrived on the market and have already reached the podium. Dona Paterna wines are in the spotlight on the international scene, with three gold medals won at the VINARIUM International Wine Contest 2025, the most prestigious wine competition in Romania, sponsored by the OIV – International Organization of Vine and Wine.

The distinctions were awarded to Dona Paterna Alvarinho 2024, Alvarinho Trajadura 2024 and the Sparkling Brut Alvarinho 2021, once again consolidating the international recognition of the brand and the sub-region of Monção and Melgaço.

It is worth noting that Dona Paterna Alvarinho 2024 was also recently awarded a gold medal at the Portugal Wine Trophy 2025, the largest international wine competition held in Portugal. This distinction reinforces the brand’s positioning as an essential reference in the production of excellent white wines.

“Seeing our new vintages, recently launched, receive gold medals in a prestigious international competition is more than a source of pride. It is confirmation that we continue to make wines with identity, consistency and quality that are recognised beyond our borders”, says Carlos Codesso, producer at Dona Paterna.

 

Alvarinho Dona Paterna 2024

Alvarinho Dona Paterna wine is a classic.
A néctar full of delicacy, freshness and minerality, with delicate white fruit, citrus, saline tones and flowers. Ideal as an aperitif or to accompany seafood dishes, or poultry dishes. It should be consumed between 10 and 11 degrees Celsius.

Alvarinho Trajadura 2024

Alvarinho Trajadura Dona Paterna results from the harmonoius combination of the Alvarinho variety with the Trajadura variety. It has a citrine yello colour, an elegant and mineral aroma and a delicate palate.
Ideal to accompany seafood, fish dishes or poultry dishes.
It should be drunk between 8 and 9 degrees Celsius.

Dona Paterna Espumante Bruto 100% Alvarinho

For the vinification of Dona Paterna Espumante Bruto 100% the grapes used are carefully selected in the vineyards, with a reduced concentration of sugar and and fresh acidity. Citrus yellow in colour, fine and persistent bubble, the aroma shows the fruit of the Alvarinho variety with a persistent and complex flavour. Ideal as an aperitif, due to its characteristics, it serves to accompany a wide variety of dishes. It should be consumed between 6 – 8ºC.

The 2025 edition of the VINARIUM International Wine Contest took place from 22 to 25 May in Ploiești, Romania, and featured 1,346 wine samples from 22 countries. The wines were evaluated by a panel of 47 international judges from 18 nations, in a tasting that brought together some of the world’s leading experts in the sector. The competition was organized by ASER Consulting & Management, in partnership with ADAR (Association of Authorized Tasters of Romania), under the official sponsorship of the OIV (International Organization of Vine and Wine) and VINOFED (World Federation of Major International Wine and Spirit Competitions).
