The Alvarinho Trajadura Dona Paterna, 2023 vintage, was awarded a gold medal (90 points) in the 7th edition of the Sommeliers Choice Awards 2025, a North American competition that rewards wines with the highest quality and gastronomic potential, selected by a panel of sommeliers, buyers and experts in the Horeca sector.
Produced in the Monção and Melgaço sub-region, this wine is the result of the harmonious combination of the Alvarinho grape variety and the Trajadura grape variety, and stood out for its light straw color, floral and citrus aromas and vibrant notes of grapefruit, peach and pineapple on the palate, with crisp acidity and a clean and refreshing finish, as described in the official tasting note itself.

This is the second consecutive year that the Alvarinho Trajadura Dona Paterna, from the same vintage (2023), has won a gold medal in this international competition. This repetition attests to the consistency of quality and continued recognition by professionals in the sector, namely sommeliers and specialists linked to the Horeca channel.

The Sommeliers Choice Awards is an annual competition held in San Francisco (USA), focusing on the restaurant sector. Wines are evaluated based on their quality, typicality, balance and gastronomic value, with awards being given only to those that stand out for their versatility at the table and commercial appeal. The tastings are led by a panel of award-winning sommeliers, buyers, beverage directors and wine consultants.
It is organized by the Beverage Trade Network, recognized for organizing events such as the London Wine Competition, the International Bulk Wine and Spirits Show and the USA Trade Tasting.
